Ordering repeat prescriptions
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:
- using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App)
- using the GP online system: SystmOnline
These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.
You can also:
- fill out a repeat prescriptions request form
We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email.
Collecting your prescription
You can usually collect your prescription 4 working days after you have ordered it.
If you usually collect your prescription from one of the local pharmacies instead of our dispensary, this will take longer.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:
- fill out an ask a prescription question form
- Submit an Accurx enquiry form
- Call the Practice Dispensary. Phone calls are taken on Monday to Thursdays from 9am to 10am and 2pm to 3pm. On Fridays from 830am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm.
Medication reviews
On an annual basis our prescribing pharmacist reviews any regular medication on a repeat prescription. You may be asked to attend an annual review appointment which will be with the prescribing pharmacist or you may be referred to a GP for review. The practice will notify you when your review is due; please check your repeat script as you may see a reminder message to make an appointment for a review.
Dispensing Review of Use of Medicines (DRUM review)
You may find that our dispensary staff, from time to time, also check your medication with you. For example, they check that you are aware of the dosage or that your repeat lists are up to date. This is mainly for patients who have multiple medications. This is in addition to the medication review and a requirement of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme.
For many questions regarding your medication you may find your community pharmacy a valuable source of information. Pharmacist are trained medical professionals who can also answer questions such as what to do if you miss a dose or what the possible side effects are, and what to do if they occur.
