Prescription waiting time

To help us to manage your medicines safely, please ensure that you send us your routine repeat prescription request in plenty of time, giving us at least 4 working days. The minimum time that the doctors and dispensers need to process your request is 2 working day. However, during busy periods and holiday times, it may take us a little longer, hence the reason that we advise that you allow at least 4 working days. The more notice you can give us, the better.

Don’t forget that if you usually collect your prescription from one of the local pharmacies instead of our Dispensary, this will take longer.  Also, please be aware that we do not deal directly with the Coniston Road branch of Tesco Pharmacy. All prescriptions for Tesco customers are collected by the staff from the High Street branch, and Coniston Road customers are asked to allow an extra day on top of the usual time for processing by Tesco.

Medication Reviews

On an annual basis our Prescribing Pharmacist reviews any regular medication on a repeat prescription. You may be asked to  attend an annual review appointment which will be with the Prescribing Pharmacist or you may be referred to a GP for review. The Pratice will notify you when your review is due – please check your repeat script as you may see a reminder message to make an appointment for a review.

Dispensing Review of Use of Medicines (DRUM Review) You may find that our Dispenary staff, from time to time, also check your medication with you. For example, they check that you are aware of the dosage or that your repeat lists are up to date. This is mainly for patients who have multiple medications. This is in addition to the medication review and a requirement of the Dipensing Services Quality Scheme.

For many questions regarding your medication you may find your community pharmacy a valuable source of information. Pharmacist are trained medical professionals who can also answer questions such as what to do if you miss a dose or what the possible side effects are, and what to do if they occur.
